28th October 2018: Our amazing comp squad parents organised a Halloween colouring competition for our younger flames gymnasts and families to get involved with and a cake and goodies sale - they raised an fantastic £70 which will go towards equipment for the club. Thank you everyone who got involved either as an organiser or a contributor / participant (or both), your support is very much appreciated. Thank you to the thirsty parents who have ensured another £10 has reached the honesty pot in the last week, and to the parents and coaches who bring in the snacks for the tuck box.
22nd October 2018: Thank you everyone for your ongoing support of Flames Gymnastics Club. Since earlier this month we have raised a further £45 through our tea/coffee/hot chocolate honesty pot, and the parents are currently running a Halloween colouring competition for our younger flames gymnasts and families to get involved with. 7th October 2018: Thank you everyone for your ongoing support of Flames Gymnastics Club. Since July I am delighted to update you with the news that we have raised a further £55 through our tea/coffee/hot chocolate honesty pot, and the parents raised a fantastic £191 in a raffle at the Regional Championships last weekend. This wonderful effort will be put towards more new kit in the new year - look out for more updates in the new year.
22nd July 2018: Despite the hot weather, our tea and coffee honesty pot continues to receive lotsof welcome donations. Since the last update in May, we have raised a further £75 and we are delighted to announce that our new spring board arrived as promised, and we have now ordered an 'air barrel' (£221); this inflatable device will help gymnasts to learn to flick, handspring and be used for all kinds of conditioning exercises as well. Thank you to the parents and coaches who donate the refreshments which we all enjoy, and thank you to all the parents who donate to our fund - you can see from the information here and below, we always make great use of the money raised. .
13th MAY 2018: With another £20 in the honesty pot we are delighted to keep topping up our fund raising money. This fund has raised about £300 since we moved to the Gillett Centre 8 months ago; and I am delighted to let you all know that our new mat and blocks have already been delivered and tested out by our squad gymnasts and coaches. The spring board will arrive soon. We also have two judges completing their Regional Judging course / exam in June, so please keep on using / donating to our refreshment facilities as every contribution goes directly to our club's funds and spent on things to make gymnastics even better for our members. Thank you.
MAY 2018: So early in the month and another £10 has been added to the pot. Thank you for all your support - today I have ordered about £1000 additional kit for our lovely gym (an extra soft safety mat, a springboard and two 'booster' blocks). I will let you know when it all arrives! In the meantime keep making those drinks!
APRIl 2018: we are approaching the end of April and another £30 has been added to the honesty pot by thirsty parents in the last few weeks. Thank you again from all the Flames coaches and gymnasts for your wonderful support.
MARCH 2018: as time rushes by towards the end of March £35 has been added to the honesty pot by thirsty parents in March. Thank you again from all the Flames coaches and gymnasts for your wonderful support.
FEBRUARY 2018: In the second part of February our tea, coffee and snacks honesty box has received a further £20 .... thank you again for your support, all funds are gratefully received to fund equipment and coach/judge development.
JANUARY 2018: In January (and the first part of February) our tea, coffee and snacks honesty box has received a further £97 .... you are thirsty parents!!! thank you for your support, all funds are gratefully received to fund equipment and coach/judge development. January saw 5 of us achieve Club Judging awards (in addition to two judges renewing their regional awards in the Autumn). British Gymnastics courses for judging cost £200 per person (so we have spent £1400 since October on requalifying our judges) and for coaching varies and start from £300 for level 1 coaches. We are delighted that Izzy James will be starting her level 1 course in March and Hannah Mee her level 2 course as soon as one is available in the region ....
Hopefully you can see just how important your fundraising efforts are in ensuring we have the best coaches and judges in the gym! Thank you again.
It's been a while since we posted anything about fund raising on this page; but our move to the Gillett Centre has given us a renewed need to fund raise in the club due to a substantial rise in venue hire costs combined with a significant rise in the cost of coach and judging courses / qualifications organised by British Gymnastics.
Since arriving at the Gillet Centre, our brilliant parent and coach fundraisers have raised:
November and December 2017 gymnasts, parents and coaches fund raised:
- £42.50 through the 100 club (and gave out the same amount in prize money)
- £210 through the Christmas raffle and cake sale
- £52 through the honesty waiting room tea/coffee box
- £120 through a 'press up challenge' by the gymnasts under the close organisation and supervision of Lauren
All of this money has gone towards gym hire fees, judging course fees (£200 each for 6 people), the purchase of a replacement 'sweet spot' which became damaged and beyong repair, and Christmas gifts for all members. Thank you to everyone involved in raising these funds, as you can see from the list above, we have lots of ways we need to spend money, with training fees covering most of the hire fees most of the time but little else.
October 2017 saw parents raise even more money towards the club's running costs:
- £20 Hallowe'en colouring competition; congratulations to the winner!
- £40.20 for the sale of Hallowe'en cakes and goody bags
- £40 for the sale of tea and coffee etc during October
Thank you everyone who supported our club fundraising endeavours!
- £36.50 through a cake sale on our first saturday training session
- £50 through the sale of clothing
- £40 in the first month, through the sale of coffee / tea / hot chocolate / biscuits / chocolate
- £1250 through a donation by TSG Electrical Services in Willenahll (a massive thank you to TSG Ltd and to Mark Henderson who managed to convince them to make the donation - Mark's daughter Laura is in the competition squad and is a member of the Metropolitan County Squad)
Forthcoming fundraising events include:
- 100 Club membership, raising money whilst having the chance to win a cash prize (thank you Mike Radbourne for organising this)
- Aa sponsored press-up challenge on Saturday 4th November (thank you Lauren Weston for organising this); please help your daughter to get as many sponsors as possible
- Halloween Colouring Competition; for our younger gymnasts and any family members (thank you Debbie Henderson for organising this)

Regional Grades 2016 - thank you Mums and gymnasts for a wonderful £103.36 raised today at the Regional Grades Championships at the Munrow Sports Centre. We'll look to invest this in a new mat for the gym as soon as possible!
County Championships 2014 - thank you to the Mums who organised a raffle at today's County Championships (13th July). We raised a fantastic £93. Keep the Race for Life money coming in too - we have raised nearly £400 for cancer charities so far.
National Final May 2014 - thank you to the Mums for the fanastic effort with the raffle during the weekend of the national finals - we raised a terrific £225.
Easter Raffle 2015 - congratulations to all our hamper winners and to everyone involved in raising money by selling tickets. You raised a fantastic £98. Thank you as always, the money will be put towards the running costs of Flames, and most likely will be spent on replacing some of the rather worn out equipment.
Race for Life - the girls started their Fundraising for the great Race For Life campaign yesterday, raising £30 doing straddle lever to handstands! well done girls!!
Easter Raffle 2014 - Thank you to all our gymnasts, coaches and parents for helping us to raise £82 towards club funds. All club funds are used in the running of the club, including coach development and the purchase of much needed equipment and consumables.
